Thailand Fashion Week AW26/27 in Bangkok: An SIIL Student on the Accredited Media Team

A Brief Overview of the Case
The Swiss International Institute Lausanne received official media accreditation for Thailand Fashion Week AW26/27—and granted this access to one of its students. Thanks to the institute, she was able to go not to the audience area, but to the backstage area of the fashion week: behind the scenes, to the press pool, and onto the runway.
Over the course of the two-day fashion show, the student worked as part of the media team: she recorded interviews, filmed behind-the-scenes footage, and met the people who make the industry tick— designers, models, photographers, videographers, stylists, event organizers, and members of the press. The event has already taken place; below are interviews and video clips from the event.
Interview: The Main Video in the Case Study
A student describes how the accreditation process went, what happens behind the scenes during Fashion Week, and what such an experience offers at the very beginning of her professional career.

What Happened on Set
Thailand Fashion Week is a two-day international industry event featuring runway shows in the categories of Couture, Femme, Homme, and Avant-Garde, as well as accessories, footwear, and jewelry. Designers and buyers from Thailand, South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, and other countries converge on the venue, along with members of the press, stylists, and production teams.
People I've had the opportunity to work with and get to know:
- Designers and Brands: Discussions about collection concepts, how an idea makes its way to the runway, and how a young brand can get on the official fashion week calendar.
- Models: getting ready for the show, castings, rehearsals, working with stylists and makeup artists—the entire journey leading up to that first step onto the runway.
- Photographers and Videographers: How a Fashion Show Shoot Works—Lighting, Shooting Angles, and Deadlines for Delivering Content to the Press and Brands.
- Organizers and the press office: the logistics of accreditation, the show’s timing, the operation of the press area, and the coordination of dozens of teams simultaneously.
- Media and Buyers: How Events of This Scale Lead to Media Coverage, Contracts, and Brand Promotion in New Markets.

What did this mean for the student?
- Real-world industry experience: not a textbook case study, but actual work at an international event with real deadlines and a professional team.
- Portfolio: video interviews and photos from Fashion Week—material you can show to an employer or client.
- Networking: personal connections with designers, production teams, and media representatives in several countries.
- Communication Skills: Interviews and Workplace Communication in English in an International Environment.
Why Do SIIL Students Have These Opportunities?
SIIL structures its curriculum around practical experience: the institute actively seeks out partnerships and industry events, and then provides students with access to them. Accreditation for Thailand Fashion Week is one such example: the institute used its media status not for reporting purposes, but to secure a spot for a student in the work area of the international fashion week.
For programs related to fashion and brand management, event management, marketing, and media, this kind of experience is worth dozens of hours of theory: students get an inside look at the industry and immediately understand how it works.
