Thailand Fashion Week AW26/27 in Bangkok: a SIIL Student Inside the Accredited Media Team

The case in short
Swiss International Institute Lausanne received official media accreditation for Thailand Fashion Week AW26/27 — and passed that access on to a student. Thanks to the institute she ended up not in the audience, but in the working area of the fashion week: backstage, in the press pool and right by the runway.
Across two days of shows she worked as part of the media team: recording interviews, filming backstage and meeting the people who make the industry run — designers, models, photographers, videographers, stylists, organisers and press. The event has already taken place; below are the interview and the clips filmed on site.
Interview: the key video of this case
The student explains how the accreditation worked, what really happens backstage at a fashion week, and what this kind of experience gives you at the very start of a career.

What happened on site
Thailand Fashion Week is a two-day international trade runway event: shows across Couture, Femme, Homme and Avant-Garde, plus accessories, footwear and jewellery. It brings together designers and buyers from Thailand, South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines and beyond — along with press, stylists and production crews.
Who the student worked and connected with:
- Designers and brands: conversations about collection concepts, how an idea becomes a runway look, and how a young label gets into the official fashion week calendar.
- Models: castings, rehearsals, work with stylists and make-up artists — the whole path up to the first step on the runway.
- Photographers and videographers: how a show is shot — lighting, shooting positions, deadlines for delivering material to press and brands.
- Organisers and press office: how accreditation works, show timing, the press area and the coordination of dozens of teams at once.
- Media and buyers: how an event of this scale turns into publications, contracts and brand growth in new markets.

What the student gained
- Real industry experience: not a classroom exercise, but work at an international event with real deadlines and a professional crew.
- Portfolio: video interviews and footage from a fashion week — material you can show an employer or a client.
- Networking: direct contacts with designers, production teams and media professionals across several countries.
- Communication practice: interviews and day-to-day work in English in an international environment.
Why SIIL students get opportunities like this
SIIL builds its programmes around practice: the institute develops partnerships and secures access to industry events, then opens them up to students. The Thailand Fashion Week accreditation is one of those cases — the institute used its media status not for a report, but to give a student a place inside the working area of an international fashion week.
For programmes in fashion and brand management, event management, marketing and media, this kind of experience replaces dozens of hours of theory: the student sees the industry from the inside and immediately understands how it works.
